WSL | Federal Library Funding in Washington

Federal funds are provided through the Institute of Museum of Library Services (IMLS) in support of the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) Grants to States Program.

Institutional Library Services and WTBBL

Institutional Library Services (ILS) and the Washington Talking Book and Braille Library (WTBBL)

  • 30% of the annual federal award goes to maintaining and expanding service to the ILS and WTTBL programs.
    • Federal funds cover 7 full-time positions at WTBBL at $760,000/year.
    • Federal funds cover 3 full-time positions, including the librarians at Eastern and Western State Hospitals as well as the ILS manager at $281,000/year.
