Information about Stevens County

Stevens County was originally organized as Spokane County on January 29, 1858, while the region was still part of Washington Territory. It was later renamed on January 20, 1864, in honor of Isaac Ingalls Stevens, who served as Washington's First Territorial Governor from 1853 to 1857.  The county seat is Colville.
