Policies and Governance Information

Washington Rural Heritage is managed by the Washington State Library, a division of the Office of the Secretary of State. The State Library is responsible for maintaining the CONTENTdm instance, uploading and preserving contributed materials.

Materials are contributed by libraries and other cultural organizations across the state. Participating libraries are responsible for selecting materials to add to their collections and providing metadata within Washington Rural Heritage policies and guidelines. This includes selecting items that fall within the Collection Development Policy and adhering to digitization and metadata guidelines provided on this site. Washington State Library will contact participating libraries before making any changes to their collections.
