Supported by funding provided by the federal Institute of Museum and Library Services through the Library Services and Technology Act, administered by the Washington State Library, a division of the Office of the Secretary of State.
Washington State Library (WSL) is offering a competitive grant open to public and tribal library staff in Washington State. A limited number of recipients will be selected to receive a grant for up to $2,400 in allowable costs (see below) to attend the 2024 ALSC National Institute in Denver, CO.
Applications will be reviewed and scored against the following demonstrated criteria: Financial and professional development need, community/patron impact, and plans for sharing the knowledge gained at the conference. WSL may also use geographic and demographic data in the decision making process.
Each individual should submit a separate application, even if multiple staff people from the same system are applying to attend. Each recipient is responsible for completing the required reports.

Allowable Costs Include:
If you are selected to receive a grant, the Washington State Library can reimburse up to $2,400 total for the above allowable costs. Any costs above the $2,400 will need to be paid for by the grant recipient or their place of employment.
$1,000 of the grant will count toward your personal maximum of $1,000 and your library's maximum yearly Professional Development grant limit of $6,000 for FY2025.
