TTRPG Innovation Grants

Public, tribal, school, and community college libraries in Washington state are invited to submit applications for a competitive Tabletop Role-Playing Games Innovation Grant. These grants are subject to the availability of funds. 

Grant Basics: 
--Up to $2,000 per selected applicant
--Competitive
--Applications will be assessed on a rubric by a WSL committee
--Designed for projects with innovative ways of using funding to integrate TTRPGs into library services
--Reimbursement grant - Allowable costs will be reimbursed by WSL after recipients submit claim forms and acceptable documentation


Example Ideas:

--Create an original TTRPG with the local historical society
--Host a speaker series about TTRPG-related themes
--Develop curriculum for training library DMs/game moderators
--Design an adventure set in the world of a community reads book for 4th graders
--Expand TTRPG programs to new audiences, like middle schoolers, Spanish speakers, refugees
--Create a TTRPG-themed first-year experience for new community college students
--...anything you can imagine!

Selection Criteria:
Priority will be given to applicants who:
--Complete the application thoughtfully and thoroughly
--Incorporate sharing curricula, program plans, or other resources with libraries around the state
--Plan and co-design with community partners
--Demonstrate potential outcomes and impact
--Build on previous work implementing TTRPG services in libraries
--Did not receive a TTRPG Innovation grant in 2024 (2024 awardees may apply but should focus on how their 2025 project will build on and be distinct from their 2024 project)

 

Allowable Costs

Allowable Expenses:
--Books
--Games
--Supplies (resin molds, mini-figures, paint, maps, printing, laminating, etc.) 
--Program presenters (speakers, DM/GMs, staff training, workshop leaders, etc.)
--Subscription/digital TTRPG services
--Staff hours for additional project-related hours for part-time staff

Not Allowable:
--Food
--Incentives
--Giveaways for patron home libraries
--Paying staff for regularly scheduled hours

IMLS National Leadership Grant

In 2024, WSL received a National Leadership grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services for a three-year project to create resources that will guide libraries in implementing games-based services. Recipients of WSL's 2025 TTRPGs for All Innovation grants will share feedback and provide support for the National Leadership grant project.
