WSL | Federal Library Funding in Washington

Federal funds are provided through the Institute of Museum of Library Services (IMLS) in support of the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) Grants to States Program.

Research Databases

Since before the turn of the century, WSL has used federal funds to manage Statewide Database Licenses, ensuring affordable access to high-quality research tools in libraries across the state.

What does this cost?

  • Federal funds cover more than half the cost (currently $211,000/year).

Without federal funding, Libraries will need to negotiate, administer, and fully pay for access to these valuable resources without federal funding.
