WSL | Federal Library Funding in Washington

Federal funds are provided through the Institute of Museum of Library Services (IMLS) in support of the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) Grants to States Program.

Tribal Library Support

Federal funds cover 0.5 FTE ($65,000) to help Tribal Library staff:

  • Develop policy and procedures for library and technical services
  • Update technology and infrastructure
  • Upgrade automation systems to make collections more accessible and to facilitate patron access to LinkedIn Learning 
  • Provide professional development and training opportunities
  • Secure federal grant funding for projects to preserve language and culture

Federal funds also provide Tribal Libraries with free access to educational databases.
